Today, 17th November 2021, saw the return of the group of ladies from the South East Legacy Group to the Vietnam Veterans Support Group Men’s Shed for their annual luncheon. The lunch, a delicious two course feast, is organised by Peter And Margaret Cameron, and is catered to by a Nerang local caterer, Clancy’s Catering. This luncheon has become a tradition, and the Legacy Ladies Group won’t hear of having it anywhere else. The group arrived from Mt Gravatt, a south Brisbane suburb, via a chartered bus and chaperoned by Peter and Margaret and two other Legacy volunteers, Alan and Richard. Nearly all of the ladies are now over ninety years of age, and one of them, Dorothy, celebrated her ninetieth birthday today. Dorothy was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and the group sang “Happy Birthday” to her.

After the luncheon, which was punctuated with many tales and lots of laughter, the group gathered outside by the Memorial in the Veterans Support Group grounds and a photo was taken. The group then gathered their belongings and boarded the bus for the return journey to Mt Gravatt, having had a most enjoyable day.
